ATHLETICS

Realise your potential as a runner, hurdler, thrower and jumper with track and field events including high jump, long jump, relays and sprints.

BAKING WITH JOY

A fun, hands-on baking course creating sweet and savoury themed treats and bakes.
Every day children will create 2 different recipes from scratch, which they can bring home to share with the rest of the family!
Participants need to wear clothes they can get messy in, or an apron, and should bring a named, lidded container each day to bring their tasty bakes home in.
(Note: This course is suitable for vegetarians but not for children with any other dietary restrictions or food allergies).
Joy Neal is an experienced primary school teacher and chef, who has been teaching children (and adults!) to cook for over 25 years. She used to own a cookery school in London and a baking business in Tunbridge Wells.

BALL SKILLS

This gets the children involved in a wide range of sports and activities from dodgeball to rounders, tag rugby to basketball and everything in-between! The sessions may give the children a chance to try a sport or activity that they might not have considered before and develop the fundamental skills of throwing, catching, running and jumping.

BASKETBALL

Develop your basketball skills through a variety of fun activities, drills, teamwork, gameplay and competitions. To suit players of all abilities, you’ll develop your dribbling, shooting, footwork and more.

BIKEABILITY 1

CYCLING PROFICIENCY

Bikeability 1. This fun off road course develops your child’s bike control skills and confidence through cycle games and activities. Children also learn to use their gears efficiently, share space with other riders and develop signalling skills in preparation for biking off road.

CRAFT CLUB

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR THE SUMMER

All things summer – ice creams, sunshine, at the beach and more using a variety of craft ideas.

SHOEBOX CREATIONS

Create your own city, garden or under the sea scene – you choose. Please bring your own shoe box.

UNDER THE SEA

Come below the waves – meet and create many creatures – octopus, lobster, crab, variety of fish and more.

SUMMER FUN

Enjoying the summer holidays? Create your own ideas of summer using clay and salt dough as well as other crafts.

CRICKET

All elements of the game will be taught with including batting, bowling, wicket keeping and fielding drills will help develop basic skills. Small games, net sessions and group work. This will be a hard ball in the 10+ group. Please bring your own cricket box.

DISCOVER ARTS AWARD

Arts Award Discover is an introductory award, designed for ages 5 and above. To achieve an Arts Award Discover, children and young people collect evidence in an individual arts log of their experiences of:
• participating in arts activities
• researching artists and their work
• sharing their arts discoveries

DISNEY SCHOOL

Each day we’ll be exploring a different Disney film! The geography of the film, the characters, the culture, the themes, the food and most importantly creating some exciting arts and crafts inspired by them!

• Monsters Inc

EARTH SCHOOL

Come rain or shine, have fun in the outdoors. Activities include nature inspired crafts and play, building dens, camps and fires. Come prepared for all weathers i.e wellies, raincoats and hats but hopefully suntan lotion.

FELT KAWAII CREATIONS

Design and make your very own cute kawaii character in felt with Lizzy from Sketch.Stitch.Love Ltd. Learn the full process from initial sketches, template making, fabric cutting, placement, sewing and stuffing.

FOOTBALL

Participants will be put through their paces by our experienced coaches from EMC Academy, practicing a range of drills to develop skills in control, dribbling, passing, shooting, goal-keeping and tactical awareness. Football boots can be worn if your child wishes, but trainers will suffice if there is a little give in the playing surface. Shin pads and a bottle of water are required for this course. Please consider the weather conditions and provide your child with sun block/rain proof jacket.

GYMNASTICS

Former Olympian Natalie Davies leads this course for both boys and girls, from beginners to intermediate levels. Children learn basic floor skills, incorporating co-ordination skills to enhance body control, balance and rolling moves. Rebounding skills will be taught, enabling children to use the vault.

HOCKEY

Learn some stick skills, passing, running with the ball and shooting. Please wear shin pads and a mouth guard.

INTRODUCTION TO MARTIAL ARTS

An introduction to martial arts with Sensei Sean Kinsella 6th Dan. You will learn kickboxing and karate mixed with fitness. Please note that this is a beginner course and not for advanced children.

MINI BOOKS

Explore the art of Zine making! They were called Fan-zines in the punk era and used to share information. Now they’re an art form used in so many ways! We’ll make and design zines that will be small art pieces in themselves, each one with a different theme. We’ll use collage, pastels, paints, pens – all sorts of materials to play with!

MULTI ACTIVITIES

This allows children to explore and enjoy diverse sports and activities. Every session is different delivering a range of exciting games to build confidence, social skills and improve fitness.

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY

Do you enjoy making music? Have you ever used technology to do so? In this course, using a computer and tablet, you’ll learn a variety of ways we can use technology to create music, mastering skills along the way such as mixing, effects and recording. No previous experience necessary.

NETBALL

Whether you are a beginner or already an experienced player, you will gain from this course. Scout will help with all aspects of this popular game and promote fitness and working together with your team.

PERCUSSION + DRUMMING

Percussion and drumming for beginners aged 8-12. Learn how to drum using percussion rudiments with Latin and western rhythms, using both hands and BOTH feet!

PLAY IN A WEEK

Come and put together a play of the fabulous book by Martin Waddell ‘Farmer Duck’. Learn how to put on a play, making costumes, set and props, learning lines and more! Then perform the play to an audience at the end of the last session!

PLAYSCHEME

The Playscheme runs each week throughout the holiday course programme in the mornings from Monday to Thursday from 9.00am to 12.30pm. Children will be accepted on a first come first served basis, up to a maximum of 16 children. The Play Scheme is run by members of Holmewood House Nursery and Pre-Prep staff and children are dropped off at the Nursery building, not registered in the Jubilee Theatre like the other children.

PORTRAITS WEEK

Learn how to draw and paint people’s faces! We’ll use some fun challenges to see how we can make some really interesting and colourful faces! We’ll also explore some tips and techniques to show how accurate and detailed portraits are! Drawing doesn’t need to be boring!

ROOKIE LIFESAVING

The Rookie Lifeguard programme will inspire and embolden your child, helping them keep themselves, their friends and their family safe in the water through a range of fun activities. Children can attend from completing Level 6+.

SUMMER LAWN GAMES

Have fun in the sun with some traditional games such as croquet and boules.

TENNIS

The school’s all-weather courts make it possible to provide instruction to children of different abilities. Players are grouped according to age and ability, and instruction with a coach will cover all aspects of the game.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE

An introduction for young people to the game of Ultimate Frisbee. Players will learn to throw backhand, forehand and hammer throws and develop safe catching techniques. By the end of the week players will be able to play in short handed 4 a side games.

WOODWORK

ANIMAL WOOD SCULPTURE

Use our extensive stock of woods as inspiration to make your own animal sculpture. Last summer we made hippos, peacocks, armadillos, panthers and lions. You will use a range of DT techniques and tools to make a small animal sculpture with real character.

MAKE AN AMPLIFIER

Making a Passive Amplifier for a Smart Phone – You don’t need to use electronics to amplify the volume of a phone. Pupils aged 8-12 will learn how to use a horn design to amplify their own smartphone. We will use laser cutting technology to make the constituent parts, glue them together and shape using hand tools.
