Admissions

Welcome to Holmewood from Mrs Connie Cherrett, Registrar.

Holmewood is a non-selective, co-educational school which caters for children aged 3-13 years (pre-nursery includes rising 3’s.)

If you would like to consider a place for your child/children at Holmewood House, we would be delighted to meet you and give you a tour of the school and our wonderful facilities. This would also provide the opportunity to meet with Headmaster, Scott Carnochan.

You can register your child/children by downloading the Registration form or by contacting me directly. Please complete and return this form with the fee of £110 per child to put your child’s name on our Entry list.

Entry requirements

Nursery

Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One (Nursery to Year 2)

Children can join the Pre-Nursery from the term in which they turn three years old. We accept new pupils throughout the school year. Nursery children are invited to come into Holmewood for a taster session with their parents before starting with us.

Pre-Prep Department

We accept children (where places are available) into our pre-prep department throughout the academic year.

Prospective children are invited to spend a day at school during which they are assessed informally on their literacy and numeracy skills to help us to get to know their abilities, together with any potential support the child may require. Entry to the pre-prep is non-selective, though the teaching staff will also assess whether or not a child is likely to benefit from the education on offer within the context of the school’s stated aims, ethos and behaviour policy.

Prep Department

Our prep department (Years 3-8) is essentially a non-selective, independent, co-educational school that welcomes applications from children from all social or cultural backgrounds who will profit from the educational opportunities that Holmewood provides and who will contribute fully and enthusiastically to the wider life of the school. Children are admitted to Year 3 at the beginning of the academic year following their seventh birthday and from then on at any stage up to Year 8, subject to vacancies and entrance assessment. We invite each Preparatory child to join us for a taster day where they spend the morning in the relevant year group to have a sample of life at Holmewood. English and Mathematics assessments take place in the afternoon so that we assess the child’s current learning levels.

We request a copy of the latest school report for your child/children. A Letter of Offer is then issued, and the return of the form with the deposit will secure the place for your child at Holmewood.

Please contact me to discuss the availability of places for the different year groups.

We look forward to welcoming you to Holmewood.
