Celebrating 80 Years of Holmewood House

On Monday lots of activities took place in the Learning Hub to celebrate Holmewood House’s 80th birthday. Pupils could decide what they would put in a time capsule to be opened in 3005. They could celebrate with ‘tea and cake’, they could create ‘a day in the life’ at Holmewood House and enter a quiz to find out how much they knew about the history of the school. They could also view a wonderful display of old photographs put together by our school archivist Beth.

Book Binding

This week the book binders folded their five paper sections that make up the pages of their books. Each A2 sheet makes one section which makes sixteen pages. They used paper folding tools to fold, crease, and burnish.

Generous Book Donation

Zoe has made a generous donation to the library of some wonderful books that she highly recommends. Titles include books by Thomas Taylor, Sinead O’Hart, Kate Temple and Eva Ibbotson. Do come to the library to browse and borrow!

Year 4 Enrichment

This half term Year 4 have created a wonderful wordless book inspired by ‘The Tree and the River’ by Aaron Becker. They worked together as a team to sequence their river, drawings and use of colour to tell the story about the cycle of life and relationship between nature and civilisation.

World Mental Health Awareness Day

A lot of fun was had in the Learning Hub creating tea sets (a teapot and two tea cups) with which to have tea and talk. On completion everyone was treated to cake and a teabag to take home to share a cup of tea with someone. There were some beautiful creations. The message was ‘sharing is caring’, make ‘tea and time for two’, ‘spread happy vibes’ and ‘pour kindness’.
