National Numeracy Day
To celebrate National Numeracy Day, our Pre-Prep children took part in a lively and engaging morning of maths activities designed to build confidence and enjoyment in working with numbers.
Year 1 and 2 pupils were mixed into groups and rotated through a carousel of hands-on tasks that explored a range of mathematical concepts in creative ways. Activities included a place value egg hunt, where children matched numbers to the correct base 10 representations, and a scoring game using hoops and beanbags to practise addition skills.
They also took on a ‘higher or lower’ number challenge, tested their estimation skills with weight and capacity challenges, and worked collaboratively in a tower-building activity that encouraged problem-solving and spatial awareness.
It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and teamwork on display, with all children engaging thoughtfully and confidently with each task. A big well done to everyone! Catherine Thorley
