Year 1 6.6.25

In 1BR we have enjoyed learning with a partner in some of our maths and English lessons this week. We used positional language and number of steps to guide our partner to a point on the playground and practised our left and right, which were very tricky! In English we read letters taken from the book ‘Dear Greenpeace’ and we worked out which were formal and informal and talked about their different features. It has been great to see the children collaborate together and support each other’s understanding. Emma Bonwick

1AF have been doing coding in our computing lessons.  We started with programable toys (BeeBots) where the children gave instructions to make them move, we have done coding on code.org online where the children have been learning to code with blocks.  This morning they have had a go with Scratch Jnr on the ipads and they are discovering how it works by tinkering and finding out what the instruction buttons do.  It has been wonderful to see how the children are working together to give each other tips on what to try when they discover new things.  Lots of giggling as they make a character on the screen move in funny ways.
