This week in English, we’ve been diving into the world of poetry! We began by reading and discussing a range of poems, sharing what we enjoy (and sometimes don’t enjoy!) about them. Using ‘The Magic Pebble’ by Roger McGough as our inspiration, we imagined our own magical pebbles and wrote creative poems describing their special powers. It’s been a fun and imaginative start to our poetry journey! RL
On Thursday morning, children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share their work with their parents during our Open Classroom event. It was lovely to hear the thoughtful discussions about what the children had learnt and to witness the pride with which they showed their work. The children and their parents also had a go at making the Union Jack to helped them understand how the flags of St George, St Andrew, and St Patrick come together to form the flag of the United Kingdom. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the parents who attended and contributed to such a warm and positive atmosphere. CT
In Year 2, we have been learning about fractions. We have explored how to make and find equal parts and discussed what each part of a fraction represents. The children have enjoyed recognising and finding halves, quarters, and thirds.
