The Learning Hub

Nigeria Day

Inspired by Rebecca, Tavonga, Temi, and Mayra, everyone was invited to learn about and celebrate the rich and diverse culture of Nigeria in the Learning Hub on Wednesday, as part of our cultural days series. Activities included a quiz, language tellers for learning Igbo, Yoruba and Sannu, Benu style mask making, fashion design inspired by Nigerian textiles, colouring and a picture trail. Thank you too to Tomiwa, Aaron and Pelumi who spoke in assembly and also contributed some wonderful artefacts; clothes, books, musical instruments, food and textiles.  The event led to interesting questions, discussions and a lot of learning. Thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge and helping us deepen our understanding. Thank you also to Esperanza for treating us to her mix of Nigerian music. Catherine Duncumb

World Book Day Books

The books have now arrived that were ordered at the World Book Day Book Fair – thank you to all the librarians and their helpers for sorting them ready for distribution around the year groups. Catherine Duncumb

Year 4 Enrichment

Anni, Emma, Theo, George, Winter, Margot, Flynn, Freddie, Emilio and Scarlett have now finished their mini-books based on Aaron Becker’s wordless book ‘The Tree and the River’. They made some beautiful sequential drawings and using colour and rubbings created backgrounds that subtly mirrored the phases of the book; nature, settlement, bigger settlement, technology and flood.
