French Day
Today, Year 2 are immersing themselves in the wonders of France during our exciting French Day celebration! Using iPads, the children are collaborating to research fascinating facts about the country, from its landmarks to its culture. As they fill out their fact sheets, they are not only learning about France but also developing important research skills. It’s been a fantastic day of teamwork, exploration, and fun, as we celebrate everything that makes France so special! Katie Mackay
French Day was a fantastic opportunity to immerse ourselves in French culture and traditions. We started our activities by using iPads to research interesting facts about France, discovering its famous landmarks, delicious cuisine, and some if their famous people.
We also explored the work of the French artist Henri Matisse, focusing on his famous piece Icarus. Using collage techniques, we recreated our own versions of his artwork, experimenting with bold colours and shapes.
We also enjoyed listening to traditional French music and tested our dance moves by following French instructions.
The highlight of the day was a special visit from Mr. Kayser, who kindly gave up his time to talk to us about France and answer our many questions, particularly about the Eiffel Tower. Catherine Thorley
