Year 3 enjoyed a day ‘Rocking Around Britain’ as part of the science curriculum. They used microscopes, got to hold rocks and fossils, learnt about the structure of the earth, types of rocks, investigated soils, made fossils, looked at minerals and even finished the day with some explosions! The day certainly ‘Rocked!’ Year 3 Team
Today we celebrated all things French. Pupils, all dressed in their best blue, white and red clothes, took part in a workshop of “Le Petit Chaperon Rouge” (Little Red Riding Hood) and “Jacques et le haricot magique” (Jack and the Beanstalk) where they got to play some of the characters. At break, French boules and skipping were available – even though the “elastics” became limbo bars at some point! Croissants, French fries and boeuf bourguignon were served by our lovely Catering team who also made special tarte aux pommes and Tour Eiffel biscuits for dessert!
Year 3 did the register in French, enjoyed sharing what they love about France, referred to lessons in their French names and used French for classroom instructions. They also played games on the computer and even tried to teach Mr B some French (some of you may be familiar with the sketch between Phoebe and Joe…!). Madame Simpson
Year 3 have been learning about Paris and its main monuments this term. They each had a part of the puzzle to colour, all representing the monuments we have seen in class. Today, for French day, they were able to virtually visit Paris with our VR goggles; the aerial view left some a bit unsteady on their feet! Madame Simpson
🌳Year 1 had a fantastic day at Lymley Wood! 🪹
The children enjoyed the adventure playground, testing their agility on rope courses and wooden beams. They learned about habitats, foraged for materials to create their own nests, and hid them around the woodland for animals to find. After a picnic lunch and free play on the nets and mud kitchen, the day ended with roasting marshmallows, making s’mores, and playing team games.
It was a magical day outdoors.

What do you call a group of frogs? An army!
Just one of the fun facts our youngest children learned today during an exciting visit from Jaws N Claws. They met an incredible array of animals, including Nigel, the 9-year-old blue-tongued lizard, Frank and Dave, the Great African Snails, Pete, the Giant African Bullfrog, Buster and Elvis, the tree frogs, and Steve, the royal python, who could grow to an impressive 8 feet!
There were squeals, wrinkled noses, and giggles as the children got up close with these fascinating creatures. It was a brilliant and unforgettable session—thank you, Jaws N Claws!
