Girls’ Sport

The New Year has got off to a very cold start, but fortunately the snow held off long enough on Wednesday for us to play all of our matches against Dulwich.

1st Team Netball

The girls were once again dominant in their game and being 9-0 up after the first quarter, once again had to change positions. This didn’t really weaken the team and the girls showed real versatility throughout the whole match. Winning 37-4 was a big score, but testament to the girls ability against other local prep schools. Phoebe L was nominated as girl of the game and next week will see a much more testing game when we play Sevenoaks School who were our strongest opposition last year. SP

U13B Netball

The U13B team continued their impressive start to the season against Dulwich Cranbrook. They braved the cold conditions to get off to a hot start and were 9-1 by half time. Due to the one-sided nature of the game, we saw this as an opportunity to give the girls a chance to play in positions they may not necessarily always play in. Despite the cold, the girls had a great attitude and kept working hard with smiles on their faces, and eventually ran out 10-4 winners. Another good performance to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. AF

U13C Netball

The U13C team played some great netball in the cold against Dulwich and really weren’t keen to have to change positions. However, winning the game convincingly there had to be some movement around the court. The score finished 26-2 to Holmewood and Poppy S, as captain, was nominated as girl of the game by the opposition. SP

U12A Netball

A super win (15-3) for the U12A team against Dulwich. A great shooting partnership which saw some great goals, particularly in the second half of the match. As we only had 6 players, thanks must go to the 3 “borrowed” girls from the U13 teams – Charlotte, Phoebe and Hen. Megan, as Captain was also crowned “Girl of the Game”! KL

U12B Netball

What a lovely match to start the season. We were very lucky having been allocated the sports hall for our match so we didn’t need to brave the elements. The girls all worked so hard bringing the ball through the court and listened intently to the quarter time team talks and changed what they were doing. There was some great defence from Delilah, Esperanza and Alicia and some lovely attacking play by Sofia R and Charlotte H feeding the shooters of Sofia H and Charlotte C who were a new combination and made huge improvements throughout the match. A great game, well done girls. TB

U11A Netball

We set off early with the prospect of snow later and Captain (and Birthday Girl ) Iona chose ends to shoot. The squad of 9 rotated after every quarter and played at least 2 different positions. We started well with goals scored from our centre pass and then interceptions and turnovers from Maya, Iona and Antonia in defence gave us possession and shooters Lavinia, Clemmie and Pippa converted into goals. 9 – 1 lead at half time. Great centre court play from Millie, Shekinah and Ottilie with strong movement and accurate passes into space and excellent feeds to the shooters. This game emphasised the versatility of the team and how well they use the space on court with great linkage. POM Lavinia. Final score 13 5. Well done girls! SE

U11B Netball

The girls played brilliantly considering the chilly weather. They worked well as a team with some quick passes. getting the ball to our GA and GS, who made some great shots. Final score was 7-5 to Dulwich Prep. Girl of the game was Cassie. Well done girls. EB

U10A Netball

The U10A team started strong against the Dulwich prep side and managed to maintain this throughout the match. Temi (POM), Fi and Myra made some brilliant interceptions in defence and got the ball down to Ella, Isla and Darcie who cleared and drove into space to feed Bea and Alice the ball in the circle. Both worked brilliantly together to end the game with a 10-0 win. KB

U10B Netball

A fantastic start to the term for the U10Bs, winning an amazing 7-1 against Dulwich! The girls worked really well as a team, with strong spacing and lots of communication throughout the match. Great defending from Rebecca and Marsaili and it was brilliant to see goals from our GS and GA players, Flora, Emilia and Ellie. Impressive passing from Amelie, Sofia and Tavonga. Well done to Rebecca who was girl of the match! A real achievement for the team on a very cold afternoon! LM

U10C Netball

The C team battled well, with some strong defence from Tamsin (girl of the game). They held Dulwich to 0-0 in the first quarter, eventually losing 0-3. Attacking opportunities were tricky against some tall Dulwich defenders. Well done for keeping playing in tricky conditions girls. AP
