How lovely it was to meet up with the Sanders family over the Christmas holidays. Edward, Nicholas and Oscar were all in Ash House before moving on to Tonbridge School. Edward and Nicholas are pictured with their mother, Emilia. Edward is in his final year at St. Andrew’s University – where has that time gone? Nicholas is thoroughly enjoying a year abroad based in Portugal, as part of his engineering course at Durham University and Oscar is continuing to enjoy all that Tonbridge School has to offer. What a privilege and pleasure it was to speak to, Old Holmewoodian, John Hensher, on the telephone on Friday evening. John must be one of our oldest living Holmewoodians. He told me that he is 87 and was at Holmewood House between 1947 and 1951. He was in Cedar House, before moving on to Bedford school. He has very fond memories of his time here, when it was a school of just 50 boys, all of whom were boarders. He could remember the name of his dormitory – still the same today and many names of staff, with which I am familiar.
