TPR trip to Canterbury Cathedral and King’s School Canterbury
What a special day it was on Tuesday for Year 7, as they ventured out of school to head down to Canterbury for a visit to the majestic Cathedral and for lunch and tours of King’s School Canterbury, the oldest school in England. The excellent tour guides led the two groups around the Cathedral, showing the pupils the Crypt, Nave, Cloisters and site of the famous murder of Thomas Beckett. The groups marvelled at the detail of the Stain glass windows and were, I think, surprised to see a Disney window there. It was great learning all round and was followed by an audio-visual presentation, back in the education centre, about the history of Canterbury Cathedral and the city of Canterbury. After a delicious lunch at King’s School, tours of the school followed, by led by old Holmewoodians, who are currently studying at this fine school. My grateful thanks go to Mrs Jervois, Miss Price and Miss Kelly, who accompanied me on this superb trip. Paul Morgan-Jones
