Reach for the stars!
This week we landed back to Nursery with a crash, bang, wallop, only to find the children had been replaced with a whole clan of astronauts! We discovered planets, stars, moons and the galaxy whilst following the stories, “Whatever next!”, and ” Zog”. Using recyclable items, we constructed rockets using plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, and tubes. We had a think about the journey to the moon and what an Astronaut might need to take to with them. ” I think they need to take sausage rolls so they don’t get hungry”, suggested one. “What about a strawberry milkshake?”, asked another. Whilst these are awesome ideas, we also ticked off a space suit, oxygen, water, and a place to sleep. Pre- Nursery adapted this idea and designed their own shape rockets, exploring 2D shapes such as circles, squares, rectangles and triangles. The tinker tray proved a popular area of the classroom for all, with glittery bags to put crystal stars, moon rocks, and magnetic planets inside, perfect to develop little finger grips. The playdough station was jam packed with space food as the children worked together to roll and cut the dough to create star cookies. Outside was just as busy, with an abundance of milky way themed tuff trays to include an alien water slide, and googly letter searching. Next week we look forward to baking some rock buns!
Bonfire night
During circle time, we had a discussion around the importance of keeping safe around fire, what to wear on colder nights, and staying close to our families. We hope all our Holmewood families enjoyed celebrating Bonfire night at either the school fireworks, or special events with family and friends.
EYFS Nativity production
We look forward to welcoming you to watch our Nativity production of “We Three Kings”, on Tuesday 3rd December 9.30-10.30am in the Theatre. We have the costumes here and will shortly send out a letter detailing any extra items your child will need to bring.
Dance watch week
If your child attends any of our dance classes, you are welcome to come along and watch next week. Please head straight to the Pre-Prep dining hall where you will be greeted by the dance teachers and children.
