In Miss Price’s Enrichment sessions, Year 5 have been creating characters to represent the executive functions, and coming up with some strategies that they use to help us overcome challenges with these.

Year 5 created some fantastic desert island maps, based on a story we read about an explorer who was shipwrecked! Well done on your amazing work Year 5! Louise Moffatt
Monday lunchtime has seen pupils come and play a variety of geography games including Top Trumps, Face the Facts, Race across the World and Brainbox – The World.
There was even a surprise visit from Mrs O’Sullivan who stayed to play to play ‘Who knows Where?’ With Zoe and Leo and myself. I think the pupils were better than the grown ups! Katie Seecharan
In WoLLoW this week, some of the boys in 5PP delighted us with a song in Maori and a demonstration of a Haka they learnt whilst on their rugby tour. Madame Simpson
We are proud to celebrate the next steps for our Year 8 leavers with pupils heading off to an impressive range of senior schools including Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Benenden, Eastbourne College, King`s Canterbury and more.
These destinations reflect the breadth of opportunity and ambition we nurture at Holmewood, and the confidence our pupils take with them on the next stage of their journey.
We look forward to hearing from our recent Alumni how they are getting on at these wonderful schools.

We are delighted to announce that The Creative Learning Hub is a finalist in the SLA 2025 Enterprise of the Year Award. The Award celebrates one-off or progressive projects which contribute towards reading and literacy in schools.
But what is The Creative Learning Hub?
Where can you browse books (in six different languages), relax and read (on a fluffy beanbag illuminated by fairy lights), make something (like a giant “scrumplicious” lollipop), create something (like a comforting poetry quilt), enjoy being (maybe cloud gazing), listen to stories (eating biscuits), go on a journey (maybe in your imagination or to Nigeria), play with friends (perhaps build a tower) and pat a dog.
The Creative Learning Hub occupies a central space within the school and uses the library as a springboard for creative thinking and making. A diverse calendar of literary, cultural, social and well-being events take place throughout the year often involving the wider school community and curriculum areas.
Something for everyone, the Creative Learning Hub enables all types of learners to engage, express themselves, contribute to the organisation of the space or simply chill and take time out. It has catalysed the pupils’ engagement with reading for pleasure as well as nurturing their creativity and emotional well-being.
A huge well done to Creative Learning Leader, Catherine Duncumb who has created this special environment by drawing upon her professional experience of working in graphic design, museum education, and Art and design curriculum development. We can`t wait for the 6th November when the winners will be announced.
