After listening to a live webcast of Hedi Argent MBE on Tuesday 23rd January, Year 8 pupils took part in a workshop led by Dr Imogen Dalziel on dilemmas and responses, between morning break time and lunchtime, on Tuesday 6th February and then in the afternoon heard talks by Imogen on tourism at Memorial sites, followed by two most powerful, poignant and thought provoking lectures by Anita Peleg and Sandra Miller, outlining their own personal family stories. The speakers are from an organisation called generation2generation and I would thoroughly recommend them. The pupils heard the most moving story of Holocaust survivors Naomi Blake and Sabina Miller, mothers of Anita and Sandra respectively. The children asked thoughtful questions and gained greatly from this most thought provoking day, hanging on every word of our most brilliant visiting speakers to school. I am sure you will have heard all about it, before you get to read this at the end of the week. I suspect there may have been some interesting conversations over supper earlier in the week! One certainly does not get the opportunity to hear such powerful speakers very often and we were privileged and honoured to host this event, as we continue to mark the events of the Holocaust, as a school.
