It was wonderful to welcome our Class of 2020 back to Holmewood House on Saturday. We loved hearing the group reminiscing about their Holmewood years and sharing their achievements, news and future plans.
Now at university, our alumni are studying a wide range of subjects including Biomedical Science, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Philosophy, Modern Languages, Politics and International Relations, History of Art, Computing and Business/Economics at institutions such as Bristol, Edinburgh, Bath, Cambridge, Warwick, King’s College London and Southampton.
Some are currently on gap years in Asia or South America, while others are preparing for entry to US universities, including Yale and Harvard, in 2026.
Beyond their studies, they are as active as ever, with sailing, dance, skiing, diving, golf! Many continue passions first sparked at Holmewood from cricket and swimming (now coaching as well as competing) and running. One even completed the Berlin Marathon in 2025, with further ambition to run all the World Marathon Majors.
We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved — and excited to see what comes next.
A huge thank you to Mr Morgan-Jones for hosting and to Suellen at Culinera for the delicious afternoon tea.

📖 National Year of Reading 2026 📚
This month marks the launch of the National Year of Reading Go All In 2026 - and Holmewood is proud to be fully supporting the initiative.
We already champion reading for pleasure in our school week, and this year we’ll be finding even more ways to make reading part of our everyday language and culture. The Go All In campaign reconnects reading with the things that already inspire us such as playlists, football matches, films, food and family time. It’s reading that fits how we live, not the other way around.
With so many distractions at our fingertips, fewer of us are making time to read and yet, just 10 minutes a day can boost wellbeing, cognitive function and personal development. That small habit adds up to over 60 hours of brain exercise a year! A love of reading is one of the most valuable gifts we can pass on to our children.
From picture books to graphic novels, e‑books, audiobooks and everything in between, we want everyone to discover the joy of reading in a way that feels modern, social and personal. Our brilliant catering team is joining in, sharing articles about where our food comes from, and we’ll be celebrating reading across the whole school site throughout the year.
Watch this space for exciting activities as Holmewood House goes all in.
