Mrs Ruth O’Sullivan spoke to pupils about an inspiring woman, called Misty Copeland, who has become the first ever African-American Principal ballet dancer. Her message was looking at how it is possible to make a change and achieve great things.
Year 4 Viking Workshop
Year 4 have enjoyed a visit from `Portals to the Past`. Our visiting Viking regaled them with stories and sagas from the past and they learnt all about the raiders and traders who travelled to the British Isles all those years ago.
The children got to dress up, learn battle cries and shield wall formations, throw spears, explore Viking runes and language whilst also testing their strength in traditional Viking games!
A big thank you to Portals to the Past for a fun and memorable day of hands-on-history that brought the Viking Age to life.

We are very excited to announce our partnership with TEDX Tunbridge Wells to deliver the perfect enrichment opportunity for our young speakers.
Year 8 pupils will have the chance to produce a short talk on any topic they are passionate about and present it to a public audience at the Trinity Theatre in May.
Preparation will take place during enrichment and at home, guided by Holmewood staff and TEDXRTW. Holmewood House are proud to lead this initiative and yesterday welcomed partnering schools - The Skinners’ School, St Gregory`s Catholic School, Heathfield and Skinners` Kent Academy - for the first public speaking training session delivered by TEDXRTW.
There will be two further training sessions and a rehearsal day before our Year 8s step onto the stage in May.
This is a truly exciting project and we can’t wait to see the topics our pupils choose to share.

✨Debating Competition ✨
Two Year 7 teams competed in an inter-school debating competition at Sevenoaks School this week.
The topics debated were:
🟣Social media does more harm than good
🔴This house would allow humanoid robots into our homes
🟢This house believes we should explore the oceans rather than space
Our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for Holmewood House , demonstrating confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork throughout the event. We are delighted to share that Holmewood House Team B won overall, an outstanding achievement!
