The weather felt positively spring-like this week and it was wonderful to have all the girls outside playing for the final netball matches of the season.
The senior girls travelled to Benenden and delivered a strong performance against a senior school with significantly more girls than Holmewood.
U13A Netball
The girls started the match and were immediately surprised by the physicality of the opposition. Digging deep, they persevered and played the cleaner, more controlled game, although they found it difficult to get the ball into the attacking circle. Trailing 8–2 at half time, the girls remained upbeat and determined heading into the second half.
They rose to the challenge brilliantly, drawing the third quarter. Unfortunately, they were unable to maintain this momentum in the final quarter and the match finished 10–5. I was incredibly proud of the way the girls played and how hard they worked to drive onto the ball and move it confidently down the court.
Esperanza was especially impressive in defence, intercepting passes and confidently claiming the ball in the air. She was deservedly nominated Defender of the Game. Trixie was named Attacker of the Game, although all the girls gave their very best effort. They now have IAPS to look forward to after half term. SP
U13B Netball
The final U13B team match of the season got off to a sluggish start with Benenden taking advantage and taking a 4-1 lead after the quarter with some pinpoint shooting. Holmewood picked up their game in the second quarter drawing the quarter 3-3 meaning they were down 7-4 going into the second half. In the third quarter Holmewood were great but couldn’t quite finish off the chances meaning that they were 10 – 4 down going into the final quarter. Then the tide turned and it looked like Holmewood were going to pull off the comeback of the century! Holmewood were unstoppable and won the quarter 5-0 making the final score 10-9 to Benenden. It ended in heartbreak, but the girls should be incredibly proud of the spirit they showed to get the game back to such a close and exciting ending! AF
U12A Netball
The girls were up against a good Benenden side who had a very strong GA and GD. They kept working hard and trying to correct their errors and there were some nice passages of play through the court. The girls never gave up and they won the last quarter 5-2 which meant a very reasonable score line in the end. Well done girls. TB
U12B Netball
The Benenden girls were considerably taller than the Holmewood girls and so they did well to adapt their game and work on coming forward for the ball. The ball did often get stuck in the centre third for both teams but we did well to score when it got into our circle. We were 9-9 at 3/4 time and nobody quite knows what happened in the last quarter but everyone came off smiling and the girls should be proud of how much they have improved this season. Well done girls. TB
U11A Netball
A very successful afternoon at Somerhill for the Under 11A team, winning 13 goals to 3!
After a slow start, the girls kept on improving, particularly their passing down the court and into the shooters. Footwork was much improved and even commented on by Somerhill’s umpire! A big “Well Done” to the whole team and to Ella who was awarded Girl of the Game. KL
U11B Netball
The Under 11B team took part in a tournament at St Michael’s Prep School.
The girls secured 4 excellent wins and 1 draw to finish as the winners of Group B, before they played an additional semi-final and final. They played a fantastic game in the semi- final to win, before a closely contested final where they narrowly lost 2–4 , finishing as the runners-up of the tournament!
Across the matches, there was clear improvement, particularly in running forward to receive the ball and passing accurately and precisely to each other. Their positive attitude and consistent effort were evident in every match. Great Job girls! JC
U11C Netball
The U11C team played their final match before half term against Somerhill in a great game. The girls showed great determination and teamwork throughout, with strong defending and some lovely passages of play through the court.
Despite their efforts, the final score was 6–3 to Somerhill. The team should be proud of their hard work and positive attitude. Girls of the game went to Tamzin and Matilda.
Well done girls. EB
U10A Netball
U10A’s had a fantastic afternoon at the Wally Hall netball tournament. A round robin in groups had us playing some schools we don’t usually play in friendlies.
Some brilliant defending by Ottilie & Rosie, lovely passages of play from Tolu, Margot, Cecilia and Romy as well as some long shots scored by Maddie and Winter. We finished on a high with a close 3-2 win against the host team.
All girls have showed great improvement over the netball season and was a fabulous way to finish! KB
U10 B Netball
What a fun final afternoon of the netball season for the Under 10 Bs! They faced some a strong opposition from Somerhill but kept positive throughout the whole match. Emma and Scarlett were excellent in defence, while girl-of-the-game Alana pushed forwards when opportunities arose. I was very proud of all the girls for their excellent commitment and collaboration. The final score was 4-0 to Somerhill. AP
U10C Netball
Girls played so well this afternoon considering we were 2 players down. SH leant us 2 players. We played a half match against their Cs and half Ds. We lost 6-4 against one and 2-1 against the other but I thought that was so close considering. They were amazing and had a fabulous time! LM
9A Netball
The U9 girls took part in their annual netball tournament at the Sennocke Centre at Sevenoaks School on Thursday. It was a fun-packed afternoon, showcasing some excellent netball from schools across the local area. Holmewood competed against Granville, Alleyn’s, Solefields, St Michael’s and Kent College.
The girls played some fluent netball, demonstrating great passing down the court along with some excellent interceptions. While converting chances into goals proved challenging at times, the team secured a couple of wins and narrowly missed out in a few other matches.
Overall, it was a fantastic learning experience and marked the girls’ first netball tournament. Very well done to all the players – there is lots to build on for next year! SP

Under 8A Team Final score: 3-2 to Rose Hill
A drizzly end to our netball season but the girls played well today against Rose Hill. There was some great passing down the court and impressive catching. The girls communicated well, supported one another and some moments of brilliance that led to 2 well-earned goals.
Although the result didn’t go our way, the team showed clear progress and great team spirit. Well done to everyone involved – we’re very proud of the effort and attitude of the whole team. KL
U8B Netball
U8B’s had and end to end match with Rose Hill to finish the season. All girls working hard throughout match with the rain coming and going. POM was awarded to Charlotte and our goal was scored by Artemis. Final score 1-1. KB
