Oh help, oh no, it’s a Gruffalo! 🐾
We have had a lovely week in Pre‑Nursery, filled with story play, sensory activities, and lots of exploring. Our focus has been The Gruffalo, and the children enjoyed taking part in activities linked to the characters and the foods from the story.
The children had great fun with our Scrambled Snake Spaghetti tray. They mixed and stirred the noodles, scooped them into bowls, and enjoyed pretending to cook. This gave them plenty of chances to talk, share, and use their imagination.
Our Roasted Fox Red Lentils tray was calm and inviting. The children scooped, poured, and ran their hands through the lentils, watching them fall like tiny grains of sand. This simple play helped them practise early hand‑eye coordination and explore at their own pace.
The Owl Ice Cream Shaving Foam was soft and fluffy, and the children enjoyed making marks, swirls, and patterns. Some used tools, while others preferred to explore with their hands. It was a gentle sensory experience that encouraged early mark‑making.
We also made our own Gruffalo Crumble using granola, yoghurt, and fruit. The children helped to spoon the ingredients, mix them together, and talk about the colours and textures they could see. It was a lovely way to explore food in a calm, hands‑on way.
French Day 🥐🗼
This week we also enjoyed a special French Day. The children came dressed in blue, white, and red, and we listened to French music, tried a few simple French words, and shared a themed lunch of beef bourguignon. It was a gentle and fun way to introduce the children to another country and its traditions.
Our Story for Next Week ❤️
Next week, we will be sharing the story “The Invisible String” as we begin to prepare for Valentine’s Day. We will be focusing on friendship and the people who help us feel happy and cared for. Through simple activities, play, and conversations, we will explore what it means to be a good friend, how we can show kindness, and how we can look after one another in our Nursery.
Parent Consultations 🤝
We warmly welcome you to attend a consultation for your child. This will be a chance to talk together about their learning journey and their well‑being in Pre‑Nursery. Consultations will take place on Thursday 5th March and Monday 9th March. A sign‑up sheet is available in the nursery for you to choose a time that suits you.
