The 1st Team Boys Hockey side made a perfect start to the season with a commanding 3–0 victory over Skippers Hill at home.
From the opening whistle, the team controlled both possession and tempo, applying sustained pressure in attack while remaining disciplined and organised defensively. Digby opened the scoring, before Johnathan extended the lead and added a second with two well-taken goals to seal the result.

2nd & 3rd Team Boys Hockey vs Skippers Hill
The hockey season began positively for the 2nd Team with a comfortable home victory against a depleted Skippers Hill side.
Played over four quarters, the match provided an excellent opportunity to rotate players across the B and C squads, allowing plenty of boys to showcase their hockey skills and gain valuable match experience. The game proved to be a useful and enjoyable first outing of the season, with good energy and commitment throughout.
While the challenges will undoubtedly increase as the term progresses, all the boys can be pleased with how they contributed and can look ahead with real excitement. Special mention goes to Grayson for an outstanding performance in goal, impressing while representing both the home and away sides.
U11B vs Skippers Hill
The Colts B team got their 2026 hockey season underway by hosting Skippers Hill on the Holmewood House Astro. With a 2.50pm start, the boys were ready after a thorough warm up and some drills practice including some short corner routines. Some lovely passing, team hockey was played by both sides and chances came and went and both goalkeepers made some important saves and fine clearances. 0-0 at half time and also as the final whistle sounded. Someone once told me that 0-0 draws are dull – this one was anything but, with great excitement all over the pitch and in both D’s , for the many supporters who came along to support on the bank above the pitch, on what was for once a dry afternoon. Well played boys and great to see you all enjoying your hockey. Keep it up and roll on next week, when I think we are on our travels to the Sunshine Coast! A big shout out to Frank L who represented the school in his first match for Holmewood House. Well done Frank!
U10A & U10B vs Skippers Hill
The Year 5 A and B teams travelled to Skippers Hill for their first hockey fixtures of the season and both sides delivered strong, confident performances.
From the outset, both teams read the game well, regularly stealing possession and counter-attacking decisively. The A team made a blistering start, scoring three goals in quick succession through sharp movement and clinical finishing. As the match progressed, Skippers Hill adjusted well, spreading the ball wider and applying sustained pressure, which led to a few goals created by passing across our goal. Despite this, Holmewood remained composed and competitive throughout.
The B team controlled their match from start to finish, winning individual battles all over the pitch and moving the ball effectively. Their dominance made the game look effortless at times, with excellent teamwork and decision-making on display.
With two convincing wins to start the season, the boys have laid excellent foundations for what promises to be a very positive and successful term of hockey.
U9 Hockey Festival
The U9 boys were streamed into two ability groups to take part in a hockey festival at home against Dulwich Cranbrook, producing a series of promising performances throughout the afternoon.
Across the matches, the boys showed good skill, teamwork and determination. They created numerous attacking opportunities and defended with focus and clear communication, consistently supporting one another across the pitch. While the final scores varied between games, the effort levels, energy and sportsmanship on display were excellent to see. With continued practice and match experience, this group looks set for a season of real growth and plenty of exciting hockey ahead.
