Fruity Circuits
This term, Year 6 pupils have been exploring physical computing and learning how software and hardware work together. They have been using the BBC Micro:bit to investigate inputs and outputs, as well as how the device can detect and complete a circuit. By applying conditional statements within their coding, pupils used the Micro:bit alongside themselves and a selection of ‘fruit’ to create simple electrical circuits. When a circuit was completed, the Micro:bit responded by playing a single note or displaying an icon on its LED display. Pupils then developed their learning further by expanding their circuits to include more of their classmates and additional fruit, demonstrating creativity, collaboration and a growing understanding of how computing can interact with the physical world.
