Year 4

IT & Digital Innovation

This week, 4H were introduced to programming in LOGO, a simple computer language that uses commands to control the movement of an on-screen cursor known as a “turtle”. We began by discussing the importance of giving clear, precise instructions and explored how angles are used to control turns. The children first revisited the Bee-Bots, guiding them through a range of navigational challenges, before progressing to the computers. There, they completed eight tasks of varying difficulty, each designed to strengthen their understanding of basic commands and fundamental programming concepts. Peter Meier

Viking Day

Year 4 have enjoyed a visit from Portals to the Past with their Viking Workshop. Our visiting Viking regaled them with stories and sagas from the past and they learnt all about the raiders and traders who travelled to the British Isles all those years ago. The children got to dress up, learn battle cries and shield wall formations, throw spears, explore Viking runes and language whilst also testing their strength in traditional Viking games! Year 4 Team

DT & Engineering

Year 4 have been completing their bug hotels this term. They have demonstrated excellent following of the DT rules, and as a result are being trusted with the Japanese saws! Excellent progress from all. James Murray
