🌨️ This week Nursery has been full of winter excitement. A flurry of snow gave the children the chance to explore ice in the garden, feeling the cold textures and watching how it melted. We also enjoyed winter walks, spotting frosty leaves and puddles, and the children made their own snowflake decorations to bring a little sparkle indoors. These activities gave the children plenty of opportunities to talk about the changing seasons and share their observations with friends. ❄️
🐧 Pre‑Nursery children have loved discovering polar bears and penguins through sensory trays. They explored icy play, felt different textures, and learned about animals that live in cold places. These activities encouraged lots of curiosity and imaginative play. 🐻
🎅 Nursery children have been busy making their special letters to Father Christmas. As part of this, they practised tracing the letters of their names, which gave them a chance to recognise and use familiar marks while enjoying the festive theme. Alongside the excitement, we also talked about how Christmas is not just about receiving but about giving as well. The children shared ideas about how it would be kind to give to people who are less fortunate. 🎄
🎶 “Baarmy Bethlehem” practice has been in full swing with plenty of singing and actions, the children are really enjoying learning the songs and performing together. We hope you have received Mr Parker’s music link safely, and we would love for you to join in with a sing‑along at home. Can we also kindly ask that all Nativity costumes are sent into Nursery by Friday 28th November, in time for the big performance. 🌟
🧣 As the weather turns colder, we gently remind all our families to send in hats and gloves so we can keep the children snug when they play outside. Please do not worry if you cannot find your child’s warm clothes on their peg—we have placed them safely in their trays.
🎁 And finally, a festive reminder: our Holmewood Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 29th November from 12–4pm.
