1st Team Hockey
The 1st Team Girls put in an excellent all-round performance to secure a 4–1 win over Hazelwood. From the first whistle, they controlled the game with confident passing, clever movement, and constant attacking pressure. The midfield linked play well, creating plenty of chances, while the defence stayed strong and organised, calmly dealing with any threats. Even when Hazelwood scored from open play, the team kept their focus and composure, quickly regaining control. It was a brilliant display of teamwork, determination, and skill, a well deserved and impressive victory. DG
2nd Team Hockey
The 2nd Team Girls earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory against a strong Hazelwood side. Hazelwood struck first after a slow start from our team, but the girls quickly found their rhythm and began to control the game with better passing and movement. Sofia H equalised with a composed finish, lifting the team’s energy and confidence. In a thrilling finish, Skehinah showed great awareness to score a last-second winner, sealing a determined and well-deserved victory. DG
3rd Team Hockey
The 3rd XI girls hockey team played Hazelwood at home this Wednesday, it was a fast-paced game with Holmewood managing to keep possession for most of the first half earning lots of scoring opportunities with their fantastic passing, but unfortunately the girls couldn’t quite score leaving it 0-0 at half time. After half time the girls came out and gave it their all, earning 2 well deserved goals. Our defence were very strong throughout the whole game with Hazelwood only managing a single goal ending the game in a 2-1 win. I am super happy with the girls and how much their passing and moving, both on and off the ball, has improved over the season. It was clearly highlighted in this game how much they have improved, and I’m very proud of them for leaving it all out on the field for their last game this year. MI
U11A Hockey
The A team travelled to Hazelwood for an early start and took a little time to settle into the flow of the match. Hazelwood capitalised on this with an early goal, which sparked us into action. From then on, we began to play much better hockey, showing stronger passing and teamwork.
The opposition dominated on their stronger side, creating several chances, but Holmewood broke away on multiple occasions and made good use of their opportunities. Just before half time, our pressure paid off — with Darcey waiting on the left post, the ball was unfortunately tapped into the goal by one of their defenders, bringing the score to 1–1 at the break.
At half time, we agreed to lift our performance, and in the second half we had much of the play, creating several promising chances but unable to find the net. Towards the end of the match, Hazelwood managed to score again on the break, leaving the final score at 2–1.
It was another tightly fought contest and a strong team effort, setting us up for the final match of the season next week against Somerhill. SP
Girl of the Game: Amelie!
U11B Hockey
Won 2-1
It was a joy to play our last away match in lovely sunshine after a soggy Monday session. A great start with plenty of possession, strong powerful passing using all the space and determined play to eliminate the oppositions’ advances. Marsali was the first to score after a great passage of play, from Emilia’s hit out right through midfield with Isla, Fiyi and Anna working the ball to Ellie and Darcey who found Marsali on the post ready to score. Hazelwood equalised after a momentary lapse of concentration. However undeterred, Flora in defence sent a long ball through to midfield and in similar fashion Anna and Fiyi bombarded their goalie with recurring shots. It was Darcey who pounced on the ball after a good kick out by the goalie to score our second goal. A great result today from a team who continue to work hard and are duly rewarded for their efforts. POM Rebecca in goal and Darcey. SE
U11C Hockey
Won 5 3 This team absolutely love scoring goals and continue to show a real cohesiveness in their play. All the team have a good understanding of their role now and what is required and with much improved individual skills they play with more confidence, freedom and power. Ellie very kindly stayed to make up the numbers to 7 aside and she lead the way with 3 brilliant goals finding some dynamic shots that blasted past their goalie. Tavonga scored 2 but again the support from Anne and Florence H in attack was pivotal. Sofia and Florence W worked in partnership defending tightly and clearing numerous balls away ensuring Hannah in goal was protected. A real delight to see how this team has progressed this term. Well done to all the team today. POM all 7 girls. SE
U10 Hockey
The U10s played their penultimate hockey match of the season against Hazelwood.
The A team had a slow start, but once Margot scored the opening goal, they gained the majority of possession. It was their first experience with short corners, which led to Ottilie securing her second goal of the match and a well-deserved 3–0 victory. Player of the Match was awarded to Cecilia.
The B team produced some fast and skilful passages of play down both wings. After several strong attempts at goal, Lottie found the back of the net. Hazelwood responded with a goal of their own, and the game ended in a 1–1 draw.
The C team showed excellent defensive work, with Sophie earning a special mention from the Hazelwood coach. Bonnie, named Player of the Match, worked tirelessly to clear the ball wide to the right and set up attacking opportunities. Despite a great effort from Tomiwa that was disallowed and Zara hitting the post, Hazelwood came away with a 2–0 win. KB
Year 3 & 4 House Hockey
We had the perfect conditions for a fun-filled afternoon of hockey. The girls all played with great effort and represented their houses brilliantly. There was some excellent play from both year groups, and it was wonderful to see the girls mixing, supporting one another, and working together across the two years
Well done to all the girls for their enthusiasm and teamwork and especially to the winners, who will be announced in assembly on Monday. Thank you also to the parents for their fantastic support throughout the afternoon.
