On Friday 17th October I ran a stall at snack break to raise money for Folly Wildlife Rescue which is a wildlife and conservation charity in the Broadwater Forest near my house. Last summer I taught myself to crochet and made 61 crochet/loom band creations. I also baked lots of cookies and Halloween cake. I couldn’t believe how well the sale went – I made £267.70! Over half term I took this into the Folly and they were so pleased with the donation. They let me have a look at animals they were looking after and while I was there a pigeon with a broken leg was brought in. Thank you everyone who bought something. Lottie Morgan (Year 5)

Congratulations to Anna, Ellie and India who all won silver medals at the Dance Championships in East Grinstead on 18 October as part of the Just Dance competition squad. Anna danced a beautiful classical ballet solo while Ellie and India entertained everyone with their upbeat duet to ‘Pink’ from the Barbie movie. The girls did brilliantly in their first competition and we’re so proud of their hard work and passion for dance! Good luck for the next competition in January!

Huge congratulations to Charlotte H for raising £526.44 for Blood Cancer UK!

Charlotte ran an amazing stall on the last day of term selling fun stationery, plushies, small toys, arts & craft kits and Halloween goodies.

The charity is very close to Charlotte’s heart; her Uncle Andy (and father of Freya and Olivia at Holmewood) is currently undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of Leukaemia.

The Holmewood community are all incredibly proud of Charlotte’s compassion, creativity, and dedication, and have Andy, his family, and all others affected by this terrible disease firmly in their thoughts.

Good luck to the gymnastics teams competing in the National Qualifiers this weekend!

The quad fell silent this morning as the school came together for its annual Remembrance Day service.

Led by Mr Morgan-Jones, with heartfelt readings from Mrs O’Sullivan, four Pre-Prep pupils, and our Head Boy and Head Girl, we honoured all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service.

A British Royal Legion wreath was laid beneath the Oak tree, and another at the base of the Oliver Dicketts memorial tree — remembering Oliver (1979–2006), an Old Holmewoodian who gave his life while serving with NATO forces. Forever in our hearts.

We were honoured to welcome Oliver’s parents, Robert and Priscilla, and Alison and Clive Brown, whose son Tom — also an Old Holmewoodian — is currently serving in the Welsh Guards.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
