Author Visit

This week we were very lucky to host a visit from the exciting children’s author, Lindsay Galvin. After working many years as a teacher she is now a full-time writer. Her interest in the natural world, science, history and myth shines through in her stories. Blending fact and fiction, her unique historical stories combine meticulous research with high stakes storylines, heart-warming friendships and elements of the mythical and mysterious.
Lindsay loves to explore the relationship between animals and humans, placing her beloved characters in perilous situations and atmospheric settings. Afterwards pupils could meet the author and choose a book to be signed. We learnt how her real-life experiences and news items are often the launch pad for a new idea or theme.
We were also pleased to be joined by Year 5 from Skinners’ Temple Grove and their teachers “Y5 loved the visit and we were so grateful for the way we were looked after!”

European Day of Languages

There have been some fun activities in the Learning Hub as part of the European Day of Languages celebrations. Pupils were invited to make a Language Teller to either develop language skills or use to test someone else. They could choose from Irish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch, German, Portugese, Spanish, Polish and Romanian!

In addition, a lot of fun was had by everyone trying to find fourteen teachers and two Pupil Language Ambassadors wearing special badges around the school. To win a prize they had to guess the country represented by the image on their badge. Well done to the pupils who came to the library to look up flags and a certain Belgian book character who has a dog called Snowy!
