1st Team Cricket
The girls came up against a very strong St Ronan team this Wednesday, who boasted 4 Kent pathway players. Asked to bowl first, we bowled well, with good accuracy, but the St Ronan batters punished any loose ball to the boundary. After 20 overs, our visitors finished on 187. A tough chase for our batters and although we struggled to keep up with the run rate, we batted with guts and determination. Trixie and Saoirse batted very well and kept the scoreboard ticking over. We fell 40 runs short after our 20 overs, but it was a very good effort. JH
2nd Team Cricket
Holmewood House scored 269 runs for 6.
St Ronans scored 284 runs for 3.
We welcomed St Ronans on a glorious afternoon. Captain Rosie won the toss and St Ronans batted first. Some steady bowling with wickets from Sophia and Sofia, regular dot balls and a fantastic throw down at the stumps from Harriet gaining a third wicket. This was just one example of some excellent fielding today with speed and great technique with accurate deliveries to the top of the stumps. Bella and Davincia made a good start with the bat scoring 16. From there, we went quiet unable to manage their fast paced bowlers. Three costly run outs today were the difference. We were bowled twice and also caught out. However redemption came from Rosie and Harriet with a strong 41 which took us to 269, just 15 runs short today but a really exciting game. Well done to Bella, Davincia, Alicia, Sophia R, Sofia H, Harriet and POM – Bowler Darcie and Batter Rosie. SE
3rd Team Cricket
A great match for the 3rd team with a fantastic win over St Ronan’s. We lost the toss and therefore batted first, we were playing 8 ball overs on the astro so needed to slightly adjust our playing style which we did with a good amount of practise. Best batter was Eva who scored 24 runs in 2 overs, this was followed by Iris with a score of 19 runs in 2 overs.
A difficult target of 101 for St Ronan’s to beat in the second innings which they were unable to do. Best bowler was Saskia who conceded -12 runs in 1 over, followed by Elena who conceded 1 run in 1 over. St Ronan’s voted for who they thought our best bowler and batter were; this went to Saskia for best bowler and Mathilda for best batter. TD
4th Team Cricket
The 4th team played St Ronan’s at home and had a great match. Winning the toss, captain Raadiyah opted to field. The bowling was strong and both Delilah and Raadiyah took wickets. With a total of -3, Delilah had the best bowling stats for the game and Kitty was bowler of the match. There was some good fielding on the boundary and the ball was chased down quickly. Holmewood kept in control of the innings, allowing St Ronan’s to reach a score of 59 runs. Holmewood went into bat and started strong. Ava-Lily and Raadiyah racked up a total of 20 but unfortunately lost a wicket bringing their total to 15. There was also strong batting from Esperanza who scored 15, but the batting performance of the day and batter of the match was Poppy who scored 18 runs. Holmewood went on to score 85 runs and gave away just one wicket. Very well done girls on such a fine performance and let’s keep it up next week for our match v St Andrew’s. SP
U11A Cricket
The Under 11 A Girls Team put in a spirited performance in their match against Saint Ronan’s School. Despite their best efforts, Holmewood were defeated, with Saint Ronan’s securing the win with 290 runs and 4 wickets to Holmewood’s 250 and 4 wickets.
Saint Ronan’s displayed strong batting and bowling throughout, putting Holmewood under consistent pressure. However, Holmewood responded with determination, showing moments of real promise. While the team held their own in batting and bowling, a lack of strength in the field ultimately tipped the balance in favour of the opposition.
Well done to the following girls:
Shekinah – best Batter
Cassie – best Bowler
Iona – best Fielder
Overall, it was a good effort from the whole team, with valuable lessons learned for future matches. Well done, girls! KL
U11B Cricket
The girls played a great game of cricket. Sadly they lost by just 3 runs in the last over, but the girls are really starting to work well together as a team. We took 4 wickets. We had some great bowling from
Charlotte, who was awarded bowler of the game and Great batting from Rebecca, who was awarded batter of the game. Great team work girls. Well done. EB
U10 Cricket
U10’s travelled to St Ronan’s on Wednesday. Both teams had close games against their oppositions but both coming out as winners.
The U10A team started in field with some great opening bowling from Darcie and Marsaili who set the tone for the rest of that innings. A catch from Isla, a wicket bowled by Mayra and Ellie running out reduced the runs stopping St Ronan’s at 81 after 12 overs. Into bat, some risky running put us on the back foot. Some great singles and a few 4’s pulled us back until our first 6 of the season from Alice was quickly succeeded by Darcie hitting two more giving us the win with 88.
The B team started batting, Fiyi and Emilia facing some quick bowling and managing to hit some fantastic 4’s was a good first 2 overs. Temi and Darcy between them hit four 4’s in their pair giving us a total of 88. Into field and Amelie made a quick catch in the second over, Fiyi and Flo W bowling a wicket with her first ball slowed the opposition’s runs down to 69. Batter of the match was awarded to Temi and Bowler to Bea. KB
U9A Cricket
The Under 9A Girls secured a well-earned victory against Hazelwood School, winning by 7 runs in an exciting encounter. We finished with 236 runs for 4 wickets, just edging out Hazelwood’s total of 229 for 2.
There was some excellent bowling on display from our team, with accurate line and length keeping the pressure on the opposition throughout. The girls showed real determination in the field, with moments of great teamwork and energy.
While our batting was solid, there’s still room to grow — we need to be more proactive in going for runs and making the most of scoring opportunities. In the field, better anticipation could turn a few close chances into game-changing catches.
Batter of the Match: Cecilia
Bowler of the Match: Amelie
A fantastic effort all round — well done, girls! Let’s keep building on this momentum in our next match. KL
U9B Cricket
Holmewood House scored 251 runs for 3.
Hazelwood scored 249 runs for 4.
We travelled to Hazelwood and the hosts invited us to bat first. Every pair scored singles with Lottie hitting 2 fours. Good communication and speed and lots of attempts to hit even the wide or no balls and score runs.
Our fielding was good, sometimes panic set in but lots of quick reaction and accurate throws to the stumps with catching hands ready. Bowling was generally straight. Lottie and Libby got a wicket each from their bowling and Zara saved the day with 2 great wickets in the final over. A really close game and Well Done to Lottie, Scarlett, Emilia~Rose, Sophie, Sofia, Emma, Libby, Adetomiwa, Whitney and POM Zara. SE
