Orchestral Day at Benenden School

This Tuesday 14 of our young instrumentalists joined 140 other young people from IAPS schools across the country to form a massive orchestra in Benenden’s wonderful Centenary Hall.  It was a fun packed day of music, fun and delicious Benenden brownies!!  Many parents also came to the performance which was ear splittingly fabulous.  We look forward to more exciting IAPS music events in the future. Good Morning Performing

This morning was a real treat with 3 great solo performances by Alicia on piano, Senan on violin and Lavinia on flute and a final grand performance with what looked like most of the Year 5 girls at the piano playing their own fun composition which Mrs Carter aptly dubbed “Knuckle Sandwich”.

Sound Sensations Concert

This Monday we held the next in our Creative Performance Workshops which welcomed musical theatre and opera star Stuart Pendred who worked with a group of 25 singers including 9 solo performers (Mae, Xavi, Joshua, Ffion, Amaia, Olivia, Tamzin, Tavonga, Edgar) who all performed a rousing semi-staged version of “At the end of the day” from Les Miserables to an excited audience of parents and staff!  This was followed by the main concert at 7pm given by Stuart Pendred and his able accompanist Caroline Clipsham who also dazzled us with some truly virtuosic pianistic delights such as a crazy jazzed up version of Mozart’s Alla Turca and Flight of the Bumblebee.  Stuart was not just a singer, he was an entertainer extraordinaire!  He delighted parents and pupils alike with his charismatic performance of famous operatic numbers such as Toreador and musical theatre showstoppers where he even went into the audience and serenaded individuals with unabashed grandiosity as his voice resonated all round the theatre.  If the children thought Mrs Carter had a loud voice they now certainly have a new reference point! Mr Pendred virtually raised the roof and with no amplification!
