Science
This week in Year 2, we began our new science topic on Plants and Living Things, including Humans. We started by exploring the different parts of a seed and discussing the conditions necessary for germination. Later in the week, we had the opportunity to dissect an onion, carefully labelling its various parts to deepen our understanding of plant structure. Year 2 Team
Art
In art this half term, we’re focusing on the theme “Mother Nature.” This week, we learned how to sketch different types of leaves and plants. We also experimented with mixing various shades of green to create a beautiful final picture that captures the essence of nature.
English
This week, Year 2 have begun exploring the stories of Anthony Browne. We have enjoyed identifying common themes across his books and have been captivated by the intricate details in his illustrations. The children have particularly enjoyed spotting hidden elements in the artwork and discussing how they contribute to the story. This has sparked thoughtful conversations and deepened their appreciation for both storytelling and illustration. We look forward to continuing our exploration of his work in the coming weeks.
