Today during English Year 5 practised their balanced argument writing. The argument was based on the advantages and disadvantages of using palm oil. Pupils had to present both sides of the argument and they had to use the correct linking words to make their writing sound more serious and academic. Bronwen Jervois
Intermediate Maths Challenge
Congratulations to all the Year 6 - 8 pupils who attempted the Intermediate Maths Challenge this year. A challenge designed for Y11 and below that requires mathematical grit and perseverance.
They achieved a phenomenal 19 certificates between them, 10 Bronze, 6 Silver and 3 Gold. Of the Gold, Divit and Trixie (both Year 8), qualified for the Grey Kangaroo Round, and Leo (in Year 6) was awarded best in school and goes through to the Caley Olympiad in March.
Fantastic achievements for all involved!

We are delighted to introduce Jake, Will and Jesse who join Maddie to make up our brilliant GAP team.
Jake and Jesse are both from Sydney - a fun fact is that Jesse has a Koala living in her backyard 🐨 - while Will joins us from nearby Tonbridge. They have all been getting stuck in to school life and are already a firm part of the Holmewood family.

🐾 Ralph, the Cavapoo 🐾
Every evening when the front door opens, Ralph races to claim his corner spot on the common room sofa. From this throne, he supervises homework, adjudicates film debates, and offers a reassuring paw to anyone missing home.
Ralph has perfected the art of being exactly where he’s needed: beside a new boarder on their first nervous night, mysteriously appearing whenever snacks are opened, or simply flopped across someone’s feet during a phone call home with parents.
One of six dogs at Holmewood, Ralph is the only one who lives in boarding, and he has learnt from the best; equal parts comfort blanket, comedy act, and professional sofa-tester.
