Year 4 have started their new Science topic, Sound. This week they have been on a sound walk to establish which area of the school is the quietest and the loudest. The big question … Is there anywhere at school that is actually silent? They have also explored a variety of percussion instruments, discovering how sound is made through vibrations. Year 4 Team
⛷️La Plagne Ski Trip December 2025 ❄️
Our pupils and staff enjoyed an unforgettable week of skiing in La Plagne, with great conditions all week: quiet slopes, fresh snow, and plenty of powder to enjoy. Days were filled with brilliant skiing and the much‑loved “Chicken” and “Tiger” awards, celebrating everything from brave first turns to the slightly sillier moments on the mountain.
Evenings were just as lively with pizza nights, fiercely competitive bowling (with Mr Jervis proudly taking the staff title), and the legendary quiz night courtesy of Mr Parker. There were also a few calmer nights to recharge, including the ever‑entertaining room‑tidying competition, complete with creativity, negotiation, and plenty of laughs.
It was a fantastic trip with the children growing in both skill and confidence on the slopes and a lot of fun had along the way! Thank you to all the staff who accompanied the children on this brilliant trip.

It was wonderful to welcome our Class of 2020 back to Holmewood House on Saturday. We loved hearing the group reminiscing about their Holmewood years and sharing their achievements, news and future plans.
Now at university, our alumni are studying a wide range of subjects including Biomedical Science, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Philosophy, Modern Languages, Politics and International Relations, History of Art, Computing and Business/Economics at institutions such as Bristol, Edinburgh, Bath, Cambridge, Warwick, King’s College London and Southampton.
Some are currently on gap years in Asia or South America, while others are preparing for entry to US universities, including Yale and Harvard, in 2026.
Beyond their studies, they are as active as ever, with sailing, dance, skiing, diving, golf! Many continue passions first sparked at Holmewood from cricket and swimming (now coaching as well as competing) and running. One even completed the Berlin Marathon in 2025, with further ambition to run all the World Marathon Majors.
We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved — and excited to see what comes next.
A huge thank you to Mr Morgan-Jones for hosting and to Suellen at Culinera for the delicious afternoon tea.
