Miss Price’s Year 6 English group have written these powerful poems in the style of Carol Ann Duffy’s ‘Valentine’.

Excitement is like a cloud,
It has a fluffy appearance but not always soft,
It thunders around you, electricity frying below.
It stops you having droughts,
It empties its bucket on the earth’s floor.

It has no rubber so you can’t reverse your steps,
It lets you draw your own route.

It lets you in when you feel calm,
It stops you from losing control.

They say it has a handle, but it is impossible to control.

Whilst the one who swept you away will always be the same.
