“The Invisible String” 💕
As we approach Valentine’s Day, our classroom has been filled with conversations about love, comfort, and the special people who help us feel safe. This week, we explored the beautiful story The Invisible String, which helped the children understand that we are always connected to the people who care for us, even when we are apart. It sparked some wonderful discussions about family, friendships, and the many ways we feel loved. We also revisited The Colour Monster, using the story to help us explore our emotions. The children enjoyed matching colours to feelings and talking about what makes them feel happy, calm, excited, or even a little bit sad. It has been lovely watching them express themselves with growing confidence.
Our Valentine’s‑themed activities added plenty of fun to the week, with Valentine’s water play focusing on quantities of measure such as full, half full, and empty, love‑heart wreath colouring where the children created beautiful artwork to take home, and lots of opportunities to practise sharing, kindness, and gentle play. As we round off a terrific half‑term, we are looking forward to what comes next.
After the break, we will be diving into our new topic on life cycles and living things. We will begin with a familiar favourite: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which will lead us into hands‑on learning about caterpillars, butterflies, and the world around us.
Wishing all our Holmewood families a wonderful February half-term. We look forward to welcoming you back from Monday 23rd February.
Best regards
The Pre-Nursery Team
