Year 4

4H Book Look and Lunch

On Tuesday, 4H invited their parents into the classroom to celebrate all their hard work. The book look was a wonderful chance for them to showcase their learning, and it was great to welcome so many parents in to share the experience. The event was concluded with the parents joining their children for lunch in the dining room. Charlotte Hall

Digital Innovation

This term, 4H have continued their learning in programming using Logo, a simple coding language that uses commands to control a turtle and create shapes and patterns. The children learned how to make their code more efficient by using “repeat” commands and explored geometry by creating a variety of polygons. By changing the number of sides and angles, they combined these shapes to design a vibrant “Butterfly” pattern. Here are a few examples of their colourful creations. Next stop: creating “procedures” to further enhance their coding skills! Peter Meier

Science

This week in Science, Year 4 have been learning about pitch and volume as part of our sound topic.  The children made string guitars to investigate how they could change the pitch and volume and very much enjoyed demonstrating their conclusions to the rest of the class.

Maths

In Maths this week we have been having fun measuring! We have been estimating, measuring and converting different lengths. We loved using the trundle wheels to measure the length of the distance from the swimming pool to the astro which was, to our surprise, only 350 m (roughly!).
