We’re Going on a Bear Hunt 🐻
Pre‑Nursery have had a lovely week exploring We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The children really enjoyed getting involved in all the activities, from creating their own bear paintings to making paw‑print footprints using tickly toes, which caused lots of giggles. They followed our sensory trail with swishy grass, squelchy mud, and soft cotton‑wool snow, acting out each part of the story as they went along.
We also enjoyed our music session with Mr Parker, where he introduced The Rainbow Fish to help us think about being kind and sharing with others. The children used coloured scarves to represent the shiny scales from the story, and they loved taking turns to “give” a scale to a friend, just like the Rainbow Fish does. Alongside this, they explored different musical elements such as loud and quiet tempos, rhythm, and rhyme, joining in with actions and movements as they listened and responded to the music. It was a lovely way to combine storytelling, music, and learning about kindness.
Our Forest School lesson with Mr Lee (or Mr Leafy as the children call him!) added even more excitement. The children threw themselves into exploring and discovering the mud, delighting in the different textures and squelches beneath their boots. They experimented with filling a variety of containers with water, watching how it mixed with the mud and transformed into new, fascinating concoctions. The mud kitchen was a particular highlight, where they stirred, poured, scooped, and created imaginative “recipes,” working together and proudly sharing their muddy masterpieces.
A super end to a busy week, and we are already looking forward to the next one. Next week, we will be following Stickman and cannot wait to see where the story takes us.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
Best regards,
Mrs Graham, Miss Oliver and Miss Ringer
