Congratulations to our new Year 2 Monitors!

In Art this week, Year 2 explored pointillism. We learnt about the artist George Seurat and how he used tiny dots of colour to create pictures. The children then designed their own paintings inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers, using careful dotting techniques to build up colour and texture. The results were bright, detailed, and full of creativity! Year 2 Team
In maths, we have continued learning about money. We have been adding amounts using pounds and pence, making the same total in different ways, and comparing different amounts. This has been a little tricky at times, especially remembering that pounds and pence are different, but the children have shown great perseverance and have enjoyed collaborating with their classmates to solve problems and build confidence. Year 2 have had a fantastic week in English! We focused on nouns and adjectives, recapping what they are and spotting them in a passage. The children listened to a rich, descriptive piece filled with exciting noun phrases and brought it to life through detailed drawings. Using picture prompts, they then created their own super-exciting sentences, showing great imagination and a growing confidence in using descriptive language.
