2nd XI vs Bede’s School
The 2nd XI put in a strong performance against a very capable Bede’s side in what was a closely fought contest. The first half was even, with both teams creating chances but neither able to break the deadlock before half-time. Holmewood pressed hard after the restart and were rewarded when Arlo struck a fantastic goal to put his team 1–0 up. The game remained finely poised, but Bede’s responded with an equaliser before scoring again on the counter with five minutes to go. Despite late pressure and several near misses, Holmewood couldn’t find a way through, eventually falling to a narrow 2–1 defeat. It was a cracking match that could have gone either way, and the boys can be proud of their effort and commitment.
3rd XI vs Bede’s School
The Dream Team extended their unbeaten run against 3rd XI opposition with another gritty and determined performance. On a small pitch that made passing football difficult, Holmewood found it hard to get into their rhythm, but their resilience shone through. Arthur continued his incredible scoring streak, finding the net once again to give Holmewood the lead. Bede’s hit back with a well-worked equaliser, but Noah was outstanding in goal, making several fine saves to keep the team in it. As the match reached its tense finale, Noah turned hero again — this time at the other end — poking home the winning goal to secure a 2–1 victory. The boys showed tremendous spirit and work rate, maintaining their unbeaten record and looking forward to Friday’s fixture with confidence.
U11B vs Bede’s School
With the temperature dropping and Autumn falling away into Winter, The Colts B hosted Bede’s School for the next match of their football season.
One may have thought that a move away from our “traditional home pitch” on the iconic South Lawn may have upset the rhythm of this wonderful team who play such delightful, free-flowing attacking, passing football from number 1 as goalkeeper, through to number 8 up front. But not a bit of it, the boys soon adapted to a different pitch and on the North side of the school. Confidence was high and the team was keen to protect their unbeaten season. With the Colts B team playing against Bede’s wearing black, amongst a sea of red Lingfield and blue Holmewood in all the other matches, this was clearly the match to watch on the North Lawn. Going down the slope in the first half, the boys played with passion, commitment and above all stunning teamwork. Captain Alexei, opened the scoring with a very well taken team goal, followed by one from Louis – 2-0 at half time but they were going to have to play uphill in the second half. Would that change things? That was to be no issue for these gutsy boys and two further goals from William and George made it 4 – 0 at the final whistle, well refereed by a pupil from King’ s School, Canterbury. The unbeaten season rolls on with one match to go. Can they do it? I hear you asking – well you will have to come and watch the boys in the final football match of the season to find out the answer. Well done Colts B team – I am so proud of each and every one of you. Have a great half term, boys – what a season it has been so far!

U9 vs New Beacon
The U9s travelled to New Beacon missing a key A team player and their coach, but the boys rose to the challenge brilliantly. The A team started brightly, scoring the opening goal and going into half-time level at 2–2. However, they couldn’t quite find their rhythm in the second half, struggling with the size of the pitch, and eventually fell to a 5–2 defeat despite creating several good chances. Special thanks go to the Langton Green parent coaches — Mr Readman, Mr Simpson, and Mr Jones — for their invaluable support.
The B team also had a competitive match but were edged out 5–2 by opponents who made the most of their chances. Match of the day went to the C team, who dominated from start to finish. Luca, Reggie, and Will R were outstanding, pressing high, turning over possession regularly, and counterattacking superbly, winning the match 5-0. A brilliant performance full of energy and skill.
