Pre-Nursery & Nursery

Harvest….🌾

This week in Nursery we have been talking about the joy of harvest and the importance of being thankful for all that we have, such as food, clean water, a place to live, and our families and friends. The children explored these themes through a variety of activities using natural resources to support learning across all areas. In mathematics, we used five numbered pots and the children carefully counted and placed the correct number of acorns or conkers into each one. They then used their problem-solving skills to roll these materials down channelling tubes, experimenting with making them go faster or slower by adjusting the height. In literacy, we focused on phonics by exploring the initial sounds in “conker” — c, c, c — and “acorn” — a, a, a — and had lots of fun practicing these together. We also learned about woodland animals and their habitats, sharing many lovely Percy the Park Keeper stories which sparked imaginative play and thoughtful discussions.

Next week is the lead-up to the half-term and we are looking forward to the Harvest Assembly in the theatre on Monday 13th October. For children who usually attend on a Monday, please could we kindly ask all children arrive at nursery before 8.20am, for a prompt 8.30am assembly start.

Parent consultations 📖🖊

A gentle reminder that the remaining Parent Consultations will take place on Monday 13th October from 4:00–6:00pm. Please come to the Nursery building, where the team will be delighted to welcome you and share updates on your child’s progress.

Please note we break for the holidays at the usual time on Friday 17th October and owls is on as normal.

Warm wishes, The Nursery Team.
