European Day of Languages

We enjoyed talking about all the languages that we can speak, and we heard about Mrs Prince’s home language which is Croatian. She enjoyed teaching us happy birthday in Croatian and as her birthday is on Saturday we all enjoyed singing it to her! We look forward to sharing and celebrating some of the other languages we speak over the next few weeks. Sretan rođendan! Emma Bonwick

The quad fell silent this morning as the school came together for its annual Remembrance Day service.

Led by Mr Morgan-Jones, with heartfelt readings from Mrs O’Sullivan, four Pre-Prep pupils, and our Head Boy and Head Girl, we honoured all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service.

A British Royal Legion wreath was laid beneath the Oak tree, and another at the base of the Oliver Dicketts memorial tree — remembering Oliver (1979–2006), an Old Holmewoodian who gave his life while serving with NATO forces. Forever in our hearts.

We were honoured to welcome Oliver’s parents, Robert and Priscilla, and Alison and Clive Brown, whose son Tom — also an Old Holmewoodian — is currently serving in the Welsh Guards.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
