PGL Trip to Windmill Hill, East Sussex
On 17th September, Year 7 headed off to the PGL site at Windmill Hill near Hailsham, for three days and two nights of team building and adventure. They were organised into four activity groups and threw themselves wholeheartedly into the eight different activities, demonstrating the school values of kindness, aspiration and self-belief in equal measure.
A highlight for many was the giant swing and I was particularly impressed by those who faced a fear of heights and gave it a go. Equally impressive was the encouragement from the other pupils on the ground, who heaved their peers up as high as they wanted to go.
Despite a soggy start to the trip, spirits remained high as the pupils flew down the zip wire, threw axes and scaled Jacob’s ladder. The weather got progressively better and by Friday, the sun was shining for the final activities!
In the evenings, the children enjoyed a singsong around the campfire and a giant game of hide and seek in the dark. There was lots of chatting and snacking in the dorms but we saw some wonderful organisational skills alongside what Mr Porter named the ‘floordrobes’!
It was an absolute pleasure to take this group away. Well done Year 7 for being your best selves and pulling together as a team. Alexandra Price
