In this week’s assembly, Year 5 discovered how democracy works — with a delicious twist! Pupils learned about the importance of having a voice and making fair decisions, then put their knowledge into practice by voting on the age-old question:
What is the best flavour of Haribo?
After lively debate, votes were cast, counted, and Tangfastics was crowned a worthy winner! Danny Parker
Mrs Bennett’s class explored the fascinating world of Roman Numerals. To put their learning into practice, pupils took part in an engaging “marketplace” activity. Acting as buyers and sellers, they exchanged goods and calculated amounts using Roman Numerals, applying their knowledge in a fun, hands-on way.
What a beautiful day at last to kick off our boys` hockey and girls` football seasons. Some great play in action!

What an incredible afternoon of swimming at our recent gala against Somerhill! In what provide to be an exceptionally close and exciting competition, the final result came down to the very last few events. After an impressive 49 races, Holmewood came out victorious.
Mr Stevens said "This was a true team effort. Huge congratulations to every single child who took part. Whether you swam in one race or four, you played an important role in securing the victory. Your determination, team spirit and resilience in the pool were fantastic to see."
A special thank you to Ms Bowman, Mrs Bradbury and Mr Stevens for organising such a smoothly run event and to all the supporters cheering from the sides.

House News 👏
This morning, six brave musicians from Years 7 and 8, performed in front of the school in the first ever House Solo Music Competition. A daunting task but they took it in their stride and represented their houses brilliantly.
A couple of the children were less experienced performers and had been recruited last minute, making their efforts even more impressive!
Our judges, Head Ruth O’Sullivan, Bursar Mr Laker and Head of Music Mrs Carter, will now deliberate and the winner announced in assembly on Monday. In the meantime we look forward to the soloists from Years 5 & 6, and Years 3 & 4 taking to the stage.
