Senior Boys v Claremont
The senior boys hosted Claremont in their opening matches of the season, and it proved to be a highly successful afternoon. The 1st XI showed resilience and quality to edge a 2–1 win, while the 2nd XI produced a commanding 5–0 victory with goals from Uddin (2), Cousins (2), and Donnelly. The 3rd XI also impressed, sealing a narrow 1–0 victory, and the 4th XI put in excellent work during a high-quality training session. A fantastic start to the season with plenty to build on.
U11 & U10 A-C Tournaments at Hilden Grange
Our U11 and U10A & B sides took part in a tournament hosted by Hilden Grange. The U11A boys showed real grit, drawing their opener 1–1 before narrowly losing 1–0 in their second match. A coin toss then sent them through to the Cup semi-final, where they equalised late on to force penalties, only to suffer heartbreak in sudden death. Despite the disappointment, it was a promising start full of fight and potential.
The U11B team had a day to remember, finishing as joint winners and taking home gold medals. After sweeping through the group stages with 4–0 and 2–0 wins, they held their nerve in a tense semi-final penalty shootout, before drawing 0–0 in the final against Summerhill B to share the trophy. A superb effort and a memorable afternoon of football.
The U10A team faced tough opposition, often coming up against squads with older U11 players. Despite narrow defeats, they showed excellent resilience and spirit to progress all the way to the semi-finals — a great achievement in testing circumstances and poor weather conditions.
U11 & U10 D–F Tournament at Somerhill
Meanwhile, our U11C, U10B, U11D, U10C, and U10D teams competed in the D–F level tournament at Somerhill, with all teams reaching the semi-finals. The U10B side finished as joint winners after a tense, goalless final and a stalemate penalty shootout — gold medals well deserved.
The U10C boys enjoyed a wonderful afternoon, finishing 2nd in their group. After a narrow opening defeat, they grew into the tournament, drawing with Hazelwood before securing back-to-back wins against Yardley Court and Holmewood’s U11D. Their final 2–0 victory was particularly pleasing, and the team impressed with their sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
The U10D team also had an excellent day, storming through the group stages with dominant 3–0 wins before edging a tough semi-final 1–0. In the final, they came up against a very strong Sevenoaks Prep team and, despite battling bravely, were beaten 2–0. Runners-up medals were their reward for a fantastic effort and some superb football across the day.
Across all age groups, the boys displayed teamwork, determination, and a fantastic attitude despite challenging weather conditions. With multiple trophies, medals, and plenty of promising performances, it was an outstanding start to the football season.
