Year 7

Arena Pursuits

The Year 7’s enjoyed a wonderful day out at Arena Pursuits at the start of the week, taking part in a range of activities, where they learnt about effective communication, planning a task, listening to instructions and to each and design. The children enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the blackcurrant fruit farm on the edge of Bewl Water. Thay were a delight to take and I am sure will long remember many of the activities, perhaps especially the raft building!! Thank you to Mis Price, Mr Crombie and Mr Porter for driving a group over and coming back for them. Well done Year 7’s. Mr Morgan-Jones

Curiosity Club

After a year of our brand-new Curiosity Club, pupils had their final session on Tuesday.
These sessions are organised to expand horizons and shared interesting facts in a cross-discipline manner. Content has sparked discussions and learning points around:
  • Game Theory
  • How time works
  • Green Inventions of the Future
  • The Wealth Gap
  • Decoding New Languages
For this final session, we talked about Non-Newtonian Fluids and pupils had a go making their own Oobleck. It was very messy but satisfying to experiment with how a material can go from liquid to solid on impact.

Year 7 Scholars

The Art Scholars have been continuing with their creative endeavours including using an old cello as a canvas, starting the armature for a genie in a vase and making a large octopus out of wire, newspaper, aluminium foil and PVA glue. Tom Johnson / Keith Siddle
