Year 1

Chatham Dockyards

Year 1 visited The Historic Dockyard Chatham on Friday.  We had a swashbuckling time and thankfully no-one had to walk the plank.  We visited Pirate Debbie on her historic ship and looked at all of her pirate equipment and treasure.  We learnt how to make ropes in their ropery and visited an amazing exhibition of Lego Shipwrecks.  We were lucky enough to have a super day for our outing which meant we could have our lunch in the shade and spend a time in the playground.  Such a fun day out. Year 1 Team

Pirate Day

Year 1 have enjoyed a fantastic pirate themed day to round off their topic today!  Their costumes were absolutely amazing and so colourful and really added to the day, so thank you for all your efforts with these!

There was swashbuckling fun in 1BR making Fimo pirate coins which will be baked ready for them to decorate and take home next week. In 1CH they had fun learning pirate shanties and action songs and did some pirate yoga! In 1AF they had the opportunity to use VR headsets and explored moving around a pirate ship, looking at a shipwreck under the sea, as well as look around a roman ship, a submarine, and a modern sailing ship. We then finished the morning with an epic pirate feast outside on the grass under the lime trees.

In the afternoon we headed into the woods for some sword making with Mr Lee and finished the day with a pirate story written by the brilliant Keith Siddle. We have all had the best day and luckily no one had to walk the plank! Hurrah! Year 1 Team
