Girls’ Sport Report
The weather was incredible this week and Holmewood looked a picture as all the boys and girls played their matches or had a tennis/athletics session.
With the year 8’s away the senior girls played as 2 year 7 teams with the addition of some U11 girls to the U12B team.

U12B Cricket
Holmewood House scored 289 runs
MHS scored 284 runs.
On a sizzling afternoon, this exciting and close game highlighted the girls all round improvement and attention to detail in all aspects of the game. Accurate, steady bowling, with a great bowl from Charlotte H and caught behind by Delilah. All fielders really working collectively with a superb throw down to stumps by Charlotte W and great backing up. Some excellent work in the outfield, stopping the balls just inside the boundary. Pippa and Ottilie opened the batting with a respectable 23 runs. We applauded the 4s from Megan, Esperanza, and Charlotte H and were at that point just 11 runs behind. Captain Charlotte C and Charlotte W gave an impressive performance, sensibly scoring runs from every ball bowled including the wide balls and clinched the victory. Special mention to Pippa (POM Bowler ) Ottilie and Charlotte W (POM Batter ) who stepped up from year 6 today . A really great all round performance . Well done girls ! SE
U11A Cricket
The girls A team faced a strong Marlborough House side. Despite a slightly lacklustre performance – perhaps due to the heat – the team showed resilience. Although we lost the match, there were some encouraging moments, particularly in the bowling department, with Amaia, Ffion and Nilaya delivering some excellent spells. Our batters found it difficult to contend with the opposition’s fast bowling, which ultimately proved decisive. KL
U10B Cricket
On Wednesday, the U10B team travelled to Marlborough House for a cricket fixture. Batting first, we built a solid innings with sharp singles and some excellent boundaries from Bea, contributing a couple of 4s to bring our total to 65.
Taking to the field, our bowling attack was strong and disciplined. Bea and Sofia both claimed key wickets, while our fielding was sharp and energetic – a clear sign that the hard work in games sessions is paying off. The team restricted the opposition to just 32 runs.

Under 9A Cricket
Our Girls U9A team put in a spirited performance in a closely contested match against Rose Hill, narrowly losing 248 to 253 runs.
There was some strong and confident batting by Winter, Alana and Cecilia and the match remained tight right up to the final over. Rose Hill managed to edge ahead by scoring 3 well-placed fours to clinch the win.
Despite the result, it was a fantastic effort from the team, well done girls! KL
Under 9B Cricket
Holmewood House scored 242 runs
Rose Hill scored 272 runs.
On the hottest of days the girls gave a good performance, with a fewer number of wide and no balls this week. Rose Hill still hit well and we responded with accurate fielding and 2 pleasing run outs. With the bat we started strong, making plenty of singles but trailed slightly and then came a big flourish at the end from Sofia and Emma. We did not quite make the total required but the team should be pleased with their progress. POM Batter Emma and Bowler Libby. SE
Under 8A Cricket
The penultimate match of the year saw the U8 girls play Rosehill at home. Winning the toss, Daisy put the team into field first. Florence and Arwen opened and both girls improved in their over with Florence taking a wicket. India bowled consistently well after her first ball giving away just 2 rune and Daisy’s bowling continues to improve with good line and length and she took a wicket with her first ball. Rosehill scored 46 runs with many of them as extras and Holmewood went into bat. Maggie and Skylar ran well between the wickets and Connie hit a great shot to score a 4, whilst Daisy and Isla scored lots of singles. Holmewood finished their innings with 57 and so won the match.
Very well done to Florence, Arwen, Maggie, Skylar, India, Connie, Isla and Daisy… Let’s keep up the good work next week against St Michael’s.
