This week in Y2 we have started to learn how to tell the time. We have also been busy writing our own version of the Africa Tinga Tinga Tales “why the lion roars’. Katie Mackay
Today marked the first of several exciting transition events for our Year 2 pupils as they begin preparing for their move to Year 3 next term. Although wet weather kept us off the South Lawn for breaktime with Year 3, spirits remained high as the children enjoyed exploring the Year 3 classrooms, making new friends, and spending time with their future teachers. The quad fell silent this morning as the school came together for its annual Remembrance Day service.
Led by Mr Morgan-Jones, with heartfelt readings from Mrs O’Sullivan, four Pre-Prep pupils, and our Head Boy and Head Girl, we honoured all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service.
A British Royal Legion wreath was laid beneath the Oak tree, and another at the base of the Oliver Dicketts memorial tree — remembering Oliver (1979–2006), an Old Holmewoodian who gave his life while serving with NATO forces. Forever in our hearts.
We were honoured to welcome Oliver’s parents, Robert and Priscilla, and Alison and Clive Brown, whose son Tom — also an Old Holmewoodian — is currently serving in the Welsh Guards.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Our U13 boys and girls travelled to Sevenoaks School this week for a friendly squash match.
Both teams showed great effort and determination against a tough Sevenoaks side. The girls enjoyed their second ever outing and came away with a close 3-2 win. The boys had a mixed set of results, with some tight matches and one strong victory, but in the end Sevenoaks proved too strong.
An enjoyable day of squash with lots to learn from and plenty of positives for everyone. Big thanks to all the parents who came to support.
