Success at the IAPS Judo Tournament 2025
The IAPS Judo Tournaments took place last weekend at Bishopsgate School in Egham Surrey.
Year 5 pupil Temi was in action at the Girls Tournament on Saturday. It was her first competitive event but she performed well and won her first contest of the day with a 20 second hold down. She was dominant is her 2nd match and was awarded the victory. Her 3rd contest was a tough encounter against a girl 2 years her senior but eventually she won the bout by pinning her opponent to the ground for 20 seconds. 3 victories to top the podium and receive the Gold Medal!
On the Sunday we had 8 Boys competing. James H of Year 5 put in his best performance to date winning 3 hard fought contests to secure the Gold Medal in his group and take the Top Spot on the podium.
Year 5 pupil Noah W showed he has potential winning Silver, as did the unassuming but tenacious Fraser D and the slightly less experienced William H.
One throwing technique that William H pulled off was unbelievable, a biased coach might state that it was the throw of the Tournament.
All 3 boys displayed skills and knowledge of the Sport and were only fractions away from the top spot.
Monty M also of Year 5 gave a most spirited and accomplished account of himself to win a bronze medal.
Year 3 pupils Reggie, Dylan and Luca fought hard and courageously, displaying determination and resilience. The boys did extremely well tasting defeat and victory to gain bronze medals.
Sometimes the actual result doesn’t portray the full story, these pupils were a real credit to themselves, their parents and the school, not only with their knowledge and skills of Judo but their behaviour, contest etiquette, team camaraderie and Sportsmanship in victory or defeat were absolutely on point.
