Art – Designing Dioramas

Now the terracotta clay Dioramas have been fired in the kiln, the Year 7s have been painting these three-dimensional model sets using acrylic paints and inks. Tom Johnson / Keith Siddle

The quad fell silent this morning as the school came together for its annual Remembrance Day service.

Led by Mr Morgan-Jones, with heartfelt readings from Mrs O’Sullivan, four Pre-Prep pupils, and our Head Boy and Head Girl, we honoured all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service.

A British Royal Legion wreath was laid beneath the Oak tree, and another at the base of the Oliver Dicketts memorial tree — remembering Oliver (1979–2006), an Old Holmewoodian who gave his life while serving with NATO forces. Forever in our hearts.

We were honoured to welcome Oliver’s parents, Robert and Priscilla, and Alison and Clive Brown, whose son Tom — also an Old Holmewoodian — is currently serving in the Welsh Guards.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
