As part of the VE Day commemorations to mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War, pupils made medals. They learnt about the different campaign medals that were awarded and also watched an informative docudrama about VE Day by the British Legion.

This week the Year 7 Carnegies listened to first time author and illustrator Kate Rolfe explaining her working practice for her book ‘Wolf and Bear.’ They learnt some technical terms such as ‘gutter’ and ‘foil’ embossing’ and well as how much work goes into producing an illustrated book. Our DT scholars have been hard at work supporting the upcoming production of Spongebob The Musical. Among other elements of the set, here they are putting the final touches on Gary the Snail with the construction of his wheels 🐌.
This project is a great example of the cross-curricular collaboration that happens at Holmewood. As well as set building and props, our pupils will also be contributing backstage, including lighting and sound where they are guided by a professional technician.

Congratulations to Bella on her Sports Scholarship to Eastbourne College!
Bella has been an integral part of Holmewood sport over the years. She is currently 1st team Hockey Captain, 1st Team Football Captain and plays GD in the 1st Team Netball. She has also had a successful football career outside of school playing for West Kent and the London City Lionesses.
