Congratulations to the newly appointed Year 6 librarians for this term; Charlotte, Bella, Shekinah, Amaia, Aaron, Zoe, Lavinia, Teddy, Derek, Eleanor and Juwan. They have all attended refresher training and have already thrown themselves into the job. I look forward to working with you all this term!
Record breakers Isla, Megan, Charlotte, and Iris built the tallest tower yet out of the Kapla bricks during lunch break in the Learning Hub this week. It was so tall that it actually touched the ceiling!
The Year 7 Carnegies Book Group met for their first session this week. They are part of a national awards scheme and will take part in judging the seven books nominated for the Carnegie Illustration Award. The Carnegie awards are like the Oscars for children’s books and the group will be able to vote for their favourite book. This week they judged the books solely by their covers. In a couple of weeks we will find out if they vote for the same book once they’ve actually read it!
As winners of the National Storytelling Week Creative Writing Competition both Amelie and Raife were asked to choose a new book for the library. Here are their choices. They are currently on display in the library and available to borrow.
Last night, St Paul’s Church in Rusthall was truly magical as our Holmewood House community came together for a festive Christmas Carol Service filled with warmth and music. The choir was absolutely fantastic, with some truly breathtaking solo performances. And the readers spoke confidently and clearly.
A huge thank you to Mrs Carter, the staff in the choir and all the children for their hard work. Thanks also to St Paul’s Church for hosting us - it was the perfect setting.

Sadly we have to say goodbye to two of our amazing gappies, Eva and Estelle, as they return to Australia to continue their studies.
